Paraíso Perdido: Greg Burak, Sedrick Chisom, Alannah Farrell Maria Fragoso, Chanel Chiffon Thomas, Sydney Vernon

Thierry Goldberg is pleased to present Paraíso Perdido, a summer group exhibition with works by Greg Burak, Sedrick Chisom, Alannah Farrell, Maria Fragoso, Chanel Chiffon Thomas, and Sydney Vernon. The show’s title refers to Maria Fragoso’s painting “El paraíso perdido será siempre el paraíso, 2018.” The exhibition opens June 13 and will run until July 19, 2019.

Greg Burak (b.1986, Haverstraw, NY) lives and works in Queens, NY. He received his MFA in Painting from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and he holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD. He recently had a solo show at Fortnight Institute, New York, NY and his work was also included in group exhibitions at Patel Gallery, Toronto, CA, Monmouth Museum, Lincroft, NJ and The Painting Center, New York, NY, among others. His shows were reviewed by Art in America and The Brooklyn Rail.

Sedrick Chisom (b. 1995, Philadelphia, PA) lives and works in New York, NY. He received his MFA from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ and a BFA from The Cooper Union, New York, NY. His work was previously exhibited at ADA Gallery, Richmond, VA (solo); 56 Henry, New York, NY; JTT Gallery, New York, NY, and Signal Gallery, Brooklyn, NY among others. 

Alannah Farrell (b.1988, Kingston, NY) lives and works in New York, NY. She holds a BFA from The Cooper Union, New York, NY. Her work was previously exhibited at The Painting Center, New York, NY (solo); Ghost Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; and Brilliant Champions, Brooklyn, NY, among others.

Maria Fragoso (b. 1995, Mexico City, MX) lives and works in Baltimore, MD. She received a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. Her work was previously exhibited at Field Projects, New York, NY, New Women Space, Brooklyn, NY and at the Maidoff Gallery, Florence, IT. 

Chanel Chiffon Thomas (b.1991, Chicago, IL) lives and works in New Haven, CT. She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL. Her work was previously exhibited at Goldfinch Gallery and Roman Susan, both in Chicago. 

Sydney E. Vernon (b.1995, Prince Georges County, MD) lives and works in New York, NY. She is working toward her BFA from The Cooper Union, New York, NY. Her work was previously exhibited at Peg Alston Fine Arts, New York, NY, Prince George’s County African American Museum and Cultural Center, Brentwood, MD, and The White Room, Washington, DC.
