Soft Temple

Chason Matthams | Mother Gallery, Beacon, NY

June 22 through August 04, 2019

In the Platonic dialogue Phaedrus, Socrates uses an allegory of a chariot to describe the way in which to operate within the human body. The chariot is pulled by two steeds representing polarizations, when the charioteer is in full possession of them, they soar towards their “best life.” Employing the body as a point of departure to explore the nature of being, the artists in Soft Temple transmute lived experience into visual metaphor.
